HISTORY

Discover Our History

EFFAS’ history reflects more than six decades of European cooperation, built by national societies and professionals committed to raising standards across the investment community.

1962

The founding of EFFAS in Courchevel

EFFAS began with the idea of creating a European professional movement for financial analysts. In January 1962, this vision became reality in Courchevel, where Pierre Cabon and Peter Freeman drafted the Federation’s first Statutes, supported by early contributors including Philippe Denis, Michael Hauck, Jean-Claude Hentsch and Adolph Van Grovestins.

1963

The first EFFAS Congress

EFFAS’ first major initiative was the Cambridge Congress, held in July 1963. The event brought together selected analysts from national societies to work in twelve study groups, marking an important step in the development of EFFAS as a European professional organisation.

1963-2000

A growing European forum

Following the success of Cambridge, further congresses were organised approximately every two years, hosted by national societies across Europe. These gatherings helped establish EFFAS as a forum for professional exchange, cooperation and shared standards among investment professionals.

2012

50 years of EFFAS

In 2012, EFFAS celebrated its 50th anniversary. The milestone recognised the work of generations of volunteers who had supported the Federation’s mission and reaffirmed what EFFAS stands for: promoting integrity, thriving on diversity and creating wealth, while respecting Europe’s different cultures, languages and national values.
