EFFAS and GEES Group Partner to Launch CESGA Certification Programme in Malaysia
The European Federation of Financial Analysts Societies (EFFAS) is pleased to announce a new strategic collaboration with GEES Group to introduce the Certified Environmental, Social and Governance Analyst (CESGA®) programme in Malaysia, marking a significant milestone in expanding ESG capacity-building efforts across Southeast Asia.
Under this agreement, GEES Group will offer the CESGA® programme in a blended learning format, comprising 21 hours of in-person training, fully claimable by the Human Resources Development Corporation (HRDC) for eligible participants through a debit mechanism. This initiative aims to empower professionals in the region with internationally recognised ESG expertise and practical tools to respond to Malaysia’s evolving sustainability landscape.
“We are proud to partner with GEES Group to bring CESGA® to Malaysia,” said Friedrich Mostböck, newly appointed Chairman of EFFAS.

“This collaboration reflects our commitment to support sustainable finance education globally and to enable regional ecosystems to meet growing ESG demands through high-quality training and international standards”. Friedrich Mostböck
Malaysia’s regulatory framework increasingly emphasises ESG accountability:
- Since 2022, Bursa Malaysia requires listed companies to publish annual sustainability disclosures aligned with its Sustainability Reporting Guide.
- While non-listed companies are not yet mandated, they face rising expectations from investors and regulators to adopt ESG best practices.
- Authorities such as the Securities Commission Malaysia and Bank Negara Malaysia continue to advance ESG integration into governance and disclosure requirements.
“CESGA® has become a global benchmark for ESG training, equipping capital market participants with the knowledge and skills needed to assess sustainability-related risks and opportunities,” noted Prof. Dr. Alexander Bassen, Academic Director of CESGA®. “This new collaboration will help build a strong talent pipeline for Malaysia’s sustainable finance ecosystem”.
“We are honoured to partner with EFFAS to make CESGA® accessible in Malaysia”, said Ir. Nurul, on behalf of GEES Group. “With increasing regulatory pressure and growing investor demand, the need for ESG-literate professionals has never been greater. This initiative will contribute to strengthening Malaysia’s ESG readiness and market credibility”.
