CDP and EFRAG Announce Extensive Interoperability Between CDP Questionnaire and EU Sustainability Reporting Standards
At COP29, EFRAG and CDP, the global disclosure system for environmental data, announced a major development in the interoperability between the CDP questionnaire and the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS). This collaboration is a significant step forward in creating efficiency in the environmental data ecosystem.
Through joint mapping efforts, EFRAG and CDP identified a high level of commonality between the CDP questionnaire and the ESRS climate standard (ESRS E1). This alignment benefits both companies and stakeholders: ESRS E1 reporters will find it easier to complete CDP disclosures, and CDP disclosing companies will be well-prepared for ESRS E1 reporting requirements. A comprehensive mapping of this commonality will be published early next year, ahead of the 2025 CDP disclosure cycle.
As a key ESRS adoption partner, CDP is well-positioned to support the uptake of European standards globally. With companies representing 90% of European stock markets using CDP for environmental disclosures, the CDP platform will be a critical tool for accessing ESRS-aligned data.
Statements from the Organizations:
-
Sherry Madera, CEO of CDP: “By collaborating with standard setters like EFRAG, we’re working towards a more efficient global environmental disclosure system, benefiting both organizations and data users. The commonality between CDP’s questionnaire and the ESRS climate standard is just the first step.”

Patrick de Cambourg, Chair of EFRAG SRB: “Our work on datapoint mapping will align the CDP questionnaire with ESRS disclosures, providing a straightforward reporting mechanism for CDP platform users.”
