Introducing EFFAS’ Four New Certifications: Elevate Your Financial Expertise
EFFAS is proud to announce the launch of four cutting-edge certifications, designed to empower finance professionals with the skills and recognition they need to thrive in today’s dynamic markets. These programs, each tailored to specific career paths within the financial industry, are your gateway to specialized expertise and global credibility. Discover how the EFFAS Certified Investment Manager (ECIM), EFFAS Certified Portfolio Manager (ECPM), EFFAS Certified Financial Manager (ECFM), and EFFAS Financial Risk Analyst (EFRA) certifications can enhance your professional journey.
1. EFFAS Certified Investment Manager (ECIM)
In this programme, the principles of investments are discussed, incorporating fundamental mathematical and statistical concepts such as the time value of money, discount factors, interest rates, and expected rates of return. Further, you will gain insights into the financial system, i.e., its components, financial intermediaries, major players and much more. Emphasis will also be placed on the evolution of business cycles.
After studying this programme, you will acquire the ability to recognize the definition and objectives of European financial regulation, the potential consequences of regulatory failure, the regulatory process, and importance of each step in the process. You will be able to understand specific types of regulation and describe the reasons for each, understand the elements of a company’s policies and procedures to ensure it complies with regulation – and the potential consequences of compliance failures.
2. EFFAS Certified Portfolio Manager (ECPM)
After having completed this programme, you will be able to describe the portfolio approach to investing; types of investors and their characteristics; defined contribution and defined benefit pension plans as well as the steps in a portfolio management process. Further, you will assess aspects such as modern (equity and fixed income) portfolio theory, investment guidelines and policy, principles of asset allocation, asset-liability analysis and management as well as selected topics on behavioural finance.
In detail, you will be able to determine and interpret major return measures and describe their appropriate uses; describe characteristics of major asset classes that investors consider in forming portfolios; calculate and interpret mean, variance, and covariance (or correlation) of asset returns based on historical data; explain risk aversion and its implications for portfolio selection; calculate and interpret portfolio standard deviation; describe the effect on a portfolio’s risk of investing in assets that are less than perfectly correlated; describe and interpret the minimum-variance and efficient frontiers of risky assets and the global minimum-variance portfolio; explain the selection of an optimal portfolio, given an investor’s utility (or risk aversion) and the capital allocation line.
3. EFFAS Certified Financial Manager (ECFM)
Throughout the EFFAS Certified Financial Manager®️ programme, you will delve into the principles of financial management, gaining a solid foundation in fundamental financial concepts and mathematical principles. You will explore the intricacies of financial accounting, examine the impact of macroeconomics on financial decision-making, and develop a deep understanding of corporate finance and its implications.
After studying this programme, you will, among others, be able to analyse financial and cash flow statements, determine assets, liabilities, profits, losses and a company’s profitability. Also, you will understand equilibriums on money and goods markets and be able to determine aggregate demand (AD) and aggregate supply (AS). The chapter on Corporate Finance will allow you to make short and long-term finance decisions, including potential implications these might have on a company’s capital structure and its dividend policy.
4. EFFAS Financial Risk Analyst (EFRA)
After studying the EFFAS Financial Risk Analyst®️ programme, you will be able to differentiate between the different types of risk and to successfully embed them in a framework, which, among others, defines market participants’ risk tolerance.
You will further be able to gain an in-depth view into credit risk, market risk and asset liability risk and understand different evaluation and assessment concepts such as the sensitivity analysis, the value-at-risk (VAR) approach or stress-testing.
