Serge Pattyn a member of the EFFAS Commission on Financial Reporting (CFR) was appointed with immediate effect as the new Vice Chair of the EFRAG Financial Reporting Board (FRB) by the EFRAG General Assembly on 12 December 2022.
Mr. Pattyn is a member of the Belgian Association of Financial Analysts (ABAF/BVFA) and was formerly acting EFRAG FRB Chair and has been a member of the EFRAG TEG and a member of the EFRAG User Panel.
Mr. Pattyn started his career at KBC Bank as a credit analyst and corporate finance expert. From his initial experiences as a credit analyst he understood that a user needed to understand the language that the companies are speaking to be able to analyse company accounts. In the mid-nineties, he joined KBC’s newly established Project Finance team which gave him exposure to international finance.
In 1998 he joined KBC’s equity house – KBC Securities – as a sell-side analyst. Following a short mission with Delta Lloyd Securities and some years later in 2007 he started his time as an independent financial analyst and corporate finance advisor.
Mr Pattyn’s skills as a speaker at conferences and seminars on financial analysis, accounting, financial management and valuation are also in demand. He teaches for Febelfin Academy and EFFAS/CEFA (“Accounting and Financial Statements Analysis), Kluwer Opleidingen (“Creditmanagement”), Brugge Business School (“Working capital management”) and KMO Campus (“Financial Statements Analysis”). He also writes on bookkeeping, accounting and the IFRS for Kluwer Rechtswetenschappen amongst others.
