The National Securities Market Commission (CNMV) of Spain has granted recognition to our Certified European Financial Analyst (CEFA).
The Spanish regulator has published the first list of twenty qualifications that certify the training that must be accredited by the personnel who inform and advise in the sales networks of the financial institutions. A pronouncement by the CNMV with a view to complying with the provisions of the MiFID II European standard, which will be mandatory in Spain from January 2018.
In this first CNMV list is the diploma CEFA, awarded by EFFAS and promoted in Spain with the collaboration of the Spanish Institute of Financial Analysts (IEAF).
Thanks to this new recognition the CEFA reaffirms its quality as international passport for financial professionals. To date, EFFAS has certified over 15.000 professionals since 1991.
In addition, in the first CNMV list there is also the Certified International Investment Analyst (CIIA), a certification promoted in Europe by EFFAS together with the Association of Certified International Investment Analysts (ACCIA).
The CNMV reports that these certifications have accredited compliance with the requirements included in the Technical Guide that the Spanish regulator approved last June in accordance with MiFID II.
This Technical Guide, given the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) guidelines, establishes the criteria that the Spanish regulator considers appropriate for entities can demonstrate that the staff that informs or advises on investment services has the necessary knowledge and skills.
The list of the CNMV is initially composed of twenty certifications imparted by six educational organizations. The IEAF, member of EFFAS, stands out in this first list of centers and certifications, with the highest number of degrees among those recognized by the CNMV: seven out of a total of twenty.
The IEAF has a long History in the preparation of these professional certifications, which has now been endorsed by the recognition of the CNMV. In fact, more than 11,200 professionals have the qualifications that, after the publication of this list, qualify them to the Spanish regulator for compliance with MiFID II.
