EFFAS Launches Advisory Council to Enhance Strategic and Academic Leadership

The European Federation of Financial Analysts Societies (EFFAS) is pleased to announce the creation of the EFFAS Advisory Council, established by decision of the EFFAS Executive Management Committee (EMC) on 22 October 2025.
The Council is conceived as a consultative body that will provide strategic, academic, and technical guidance to EFFAS, reinforcing its mission to advance the financial analyst profession and foster excellence in financial education, innovation, and sustainability across Europe and beyond.
The Advisory Council will play a key role in:
- Providing expert advice on developments in financial markets, sustainability, and digitalisation;
- Supporting the definition of standards and best practices for the financial analyst profession;
- Contributing to the continuous improvement of EFFAS educational programmes and certifications;
- Advising on research priorities and strategic initiatives;
- Promoting the integration of academic research with professional practice.
The founding members of the Council are:
- Dr. Jesús López Zaballos, PhD — Chair of the EFFAS Training & Qualifications Commission and former EFFAS Chair, appointed as Chair of the Council.
- Prof. Dr. Alexander Bassen — Academic Director of the Certified ESG Analyst® (CESGA) Programme.
- Prof. Dr. Leef H. Dierks — Academic Director of the EFFAS CEFA as well as EFFAS Certified Investment Manager (ECIM), Portfolio Manager (ECPM), Financial Manager (ECFM), and Financial Risk Analyst (EFRA).
- Prof. Dr. Emanuele Campiglio — Academic Director of the EFFAS Certified Climate Risk Analyst® (ECRA) Programme.
“The establishment of the Advisory Council will provide an institutional bridge between academia, professional practice, and policy, strengthening the impact of EFFAS in shaping the future of finance.”, said Jesús López Zaballos PhD., Advisory Council Chair.
The EFFAS Advisory Council will meet at least twice per year and deliver non-binding recommendations to the EMC, focusing on strengthening EFFAS’ strategic positioning, innovation capabilities, and international cooperation.
