July 6th&7th – Yet again, EFFAS concluded another successful Summer School conference on July 7th, 2023. Held in the historic city of Lisbon, the two-day event drew finance professionals and researchers from across Europe, offering them a platform to share insights, discuss challenges, and plot the future course of the finance industry.
The 2023 conference boasted an incredible line-up of speakers, among which we had the pleasure to include Ms. Isabelle Grauer-Gaynor, Head of Corporate Finance and Reporting at ESMA to share her insights on ESMA’s role in fostering the European Capital Markets Union; BPI’s Asset Management CEO, Mr. Jorge Sousa Teixeira, who, among many other keynote speakers and panellists, served as a basis for valuable panel discussions that starred in the think tank that is the Summer School.
The European Capital Markets Union, Asset Management, the future development of corporate development, ESG, and SME equity & credit markets in Europe were some of the more dominant themes this year, with multiple sessions dedicated to understanding asset management in this ever-changing industry, and Europe’s need for the return of the insurance industry as an equity investor.
The conference was hosted in the marvellous premises of ISEG, the Lisbon School of Economics and Management, offered together with the kind support & sponsorship of BPI. We were delighted with the networking opportunities during the event, the lunches provided, and the Gala dinner on the 6th of July, where we were honoured to have Mr. Luis Laginha de Sousa, Chair of the Portuguese Securities Market Commission speaking as an invited guest.
As we look back on a successful conference, we also look forward to the future. The 2023 EFFAS Summer School has underscored the role of innovation and sustainability in shaping the world of finance. We are excited about the possibilities that await us in the coming years.
