The Association of Financial Analysts - Bankers in Romania (AAFBR) has a new Board of Directors
The Association of Financial Analysts and Bankers in Romania (AAFBR) has elected a new Board of Directors for a two-year term, until the end of 2026.
By a vote of the association’s members, Flavius Jakubowicz has been appointed President of AAFBR for a two-year term, taking over from Daniela Ropotă, who held the position of President for the last four years. Six other colleagues were also elected to the AAFBR Board of Directors, in the position of Vice Presidents: Aurel Bernat, Mihai Căruntu, Irina Chițu, Daniela Ropotă, Răzvan Rusu and Oana Stoenescu.
“I am honored to take the mandate as President of the Association of Financial Analysts and Bankers of Romania (AAFBR) and I thank the members for their trust and support. I take on this responsibility with the determination to strengthen the role of the association in supporting professional excellence and providing objective and professional analysis to the business environment, authorities and society. Our priorities remain the continued development of the financial market, the promotion of economic education and the strengthening of confidence in financial analysis as a pillar of strategic decision-making”, said the new President, Flavius Jakubowicz.
AAFBR brings together over 100 professionals with various specializations in the economic-financial field and aims to support financial education, innovation and excellence in the financial sector, so that the professional association can contribute more and more significantly to the development of this sector in Romania.
Among the most important objectives of the new Board of Directors of AAFBR in the 2024-2026 mandate, the following can be listed:
• Expanding and diversifying the membership database? by attracting professionals from multiple areas of expertise, such as insurance, financial investment companies and capital markets, so as to ensure a broader multidisciplinary representation;
• Promote professional excellence through large-scale events, thematic workshops and the editing of reference publications (such as the AAFBR Newsletter) that provide authentic insights regarding the evolutions in the economy, particularly within the financial-banking sector;
• Increasing educational and social impact through mentoring programs, financial education sessions, academic partnerships and social responsibility initiatives, dedicated to both industry professionals and the general public.
Short biographies of the members of the AAFBR Board of Directors
Flavius Valentin Jakubowicz has more than 17 years of experience in business consulting and analysis, with expertise in areas such as accounting, tax, business reorganization and tax audit assistance. He is also an active member of leading organizations such as CCFR and CAFR, and in the last years he has specialized in the area of taxation of emerging technology transactions;
• Aurel Bernat – he has almost 20 years of experience in investment management, investor relations and international relations, in particular within the Banca Transilvania Group; through his academic and professional expertise he has contributed to the development of the Romanian financial-banking sector through his activity in various professional associations;
• Mihai Căruntu – has over 20 years of experience in the capital market field, specializing in the analysis and valuation of listed companies and corporate finance; his career started as a specialized journalist, continuing as a capital market analyst and currently, as a corporate finance analyst;
• Irina Chițu – has more than 20 years of experience in financial education and active involvement in promoting financial literacy among the general public; Irina is licencesed in economics and law; in 2006 she founded and coordinatedand the financial-banking comparator FinZoom.ro. She is also the author of the book “Secretul Banilor. The financial education you don’t learn at school”;
• Daniela Ropotă, CIIA, CESGA – she has over 18 years of activity in the analysis and valuation of public and private companies, financial markets analysis and risk management; Daniela is IBR Associate Lecturer on Corporate Finance specialty since 2019, was AAFBR Vice President 2018-2020 and AAFBR President 2020-2024;
• Răzvan Alexandru Rusu, EMBA, CESGA®- has over 20 years of experience in portfolio management and investment leadership; Razvăn specialized in equity portfolio management, sustainable investing and ESG criteria integration in investment decisions; in addition to his professional certifications, Razvăn holds an Executive MBA from the University of Geneva;
• Oana Maria Stoenescu – is an economist with more than 20 years of experience in finance-accounting, consulting and management, working in diverse sectors such as banking, leasing, shipping, manufacturing and distribution. Her career includes both analytical and strategic roles such as Corporate Director, Sales Director and currently CEO and Board member.
